I knew things were getting out of hand when I was sitting on the beach in
Ogunquit, Maine over July 4th weekend, wondering what was happening on
Lactnet.  After the 300 mile drive home, almost the first thing I did was
download all the mail - and I'm still reading it.

 My latest *system* is to have my teenage daughter Catherine download during
the day while I'm working, when it's easier to log on at 14,400, so that at
least some of the mail is waiting when I get home. Catherine is coming to
ILCA with me - her third time to Scottsdale - and will be looking for pool
mates. She's just 16, and will kill me for divulging that she hopes to meet
some handsome breastfed sons of LCs.

 But I digress. Back to Lactnet. It occurs to me that with the avalanche of
mail we are generating, things have changed a little from a month ago when I
first signed on. I notice that we are sending heaps of messages, but
responding less to each other's issues. I know for myself, just reading the
mail is so time consuming that it's easier some days just to be a fly on the
wall. But I hope we don't lose the intimacy of the beginning. Just a thought.
