> A very interesting result of this study is the unexpected presence of African descendants in the Cuban population. Cuban bees do not look or behave anything like African bees — quite evident in its extreme gentleness. The presence of African haplotypes do not correspond to the importation records (Genaro, 2008), but might be explained by several hypotheses. In the first place, some swarms of African origin may have arrived at the island accidentally either in boats or in associated vegetation rafts.
