Or one might posit that at least some aspects of creation were imbued with moral agency and the opportunity to choose between the evil and the good, between truth and error.
As one of Israel's prophets recorded:
You turn things upside down!
Shall the potter be regarded as the clay,
that the thing made should say of its maker,
“He did not make me”;
or the thing formed say of him who formed it,
“He has no understanding”?
