As we have emphasized in the past, the dose makes the poison. The discovery of _relatively_ benign alternatives to older pesticides and herbicides has the unfortunate side effect of causing them to be way overused, which vastly increases their impact. On the other hand, the chief anthropogenic stressor is = the anthro, Homo sapiens. With this many people, even if we lived in huts and ate berries, we would adversely affect all other species.
