>But the benefits of properly-applied OA clearly outweigh the
damage due to varroa.
This is of course is the heart of the issue. We have multiple posts from our most qualified scientific experts on OA, OAV, OAE. I just spent the morning going through the archives. We have years of empirical evidence showing no observable harm to bees and a high rate of efficacy in killing varroa. I have used all of the methods and at many different doses. OAE 50/50 wt. to wt. on sponge as per Randy,s site is IMHO a game changer. Yet some will site research or opinion to the contrary with the kicker that it is not legal. Like so much else in our society today we retire to our political tribe and resist the "other side" simply on principal.
I am not a wild and crazy cowboy unconcerned with health and safety, and I do all in my power to be kind to the earth and all of it's creatures. I seek advise from scientists that I respect and then do trials in my own conditions. That is what I recommend to others. If you are bound by civil authority or paralyzed by conflicting opinion it is a limiting choice to all of our goals of keeping bees well.
