At risk of seeming overprotective, it is all fun and games until we start taking casualties, and we have been incredibly lucky as a community to date with oxalic.
There are alternatives to respirators, for example, using a starter relay salvaged from the junkyard to connect the voltage to the vaporizer with an "ignition switch" on a long wire, to be well away from the inhalation risk.
The wires between the battery, starter solenoid, and vaporizer want to be thick and fairly short, but the "ignition switch/ ignition coil" wires can be 20 to 30 feet of zip-cord ("lamp cord").
You'd need to extract the solenoid from an older car, as most modern starters have built-in solenoids.
