I have a mom who has complained of feeling like she had a plugged duct since the day of delivery, 4 days ago. No breast lumps or s/s mastitis. Baby is in special care so she is exclusively pumping at the moment. She is now pumping milk that has visible large clumps. Denies pain other than normal discomfort of initial engorgement. I have advised sunflower lecithin. Has anyone seen clumps in milk this early? Also, i saw the clumps in the last milk she pumped, when I swirled it to try to get a picture, the clumps were gone. In 25 years of practice, i have not seen clumps in milk in the first week.
