A couple people asked for references for my statement about birth control
pills not helping with induced lactation. I'd read an article a few years
ago that stated that, but I did not save it. I just spent the past couple
hours searching for studies/articles on the pill and induced lactation, but
did not find that or any other scientific study. Newman and Goldfarb both
recommend using the pill as part of the protocol, but this recommendation
does not appear to be based on any scientific studies. No website that
referenced the Goldfarb protocol (and I found several) listed or linked a
reference to a study. Studies on Domperidone ARE referenced in the
Goldfarb protocol, which makes me think there are none for the pill. I
also found references to other Domperidone and Reglan studies showing
benefits to milk production.

In short, this recommendation appears to have not been studied (It's still
a hypothesis at this point), and we really shouldn't be making any
recommendations about it until studies have been completed.

By the way, since there was also a question on posterior tongue tie, there
is also very little research on posterior tongue ties. In fact, there is
great disagreement in the lactation community on whether or not they even
exist. So, more studies on this, too.
