Hi,
Larry Leeman, MD at the University of New Mexico Hospital Milagro Program have had great success with breastfeeding NAS babies and moms on opioid replacement therapy. In general they are using Subutex rather than Methadone.
Larry's contact info is on this page: https://fcm.unm.edu/administration/people/profiles/larry_leeman.html

I have attached a number of articles related to this, including UNMH's breastfeeding and substance use policy.
A year ago the hospital refused to release an inmate mother for nearly 3 weeks on the grounds that her breastfed baby had NAS and that keeping the breastfeeding dyad together was critical to the baby's overall health. This mom went on to sue Corrections for her right to continue to pump after she was returned to jail. https://www.abqjournal.com/1026197/judge-overrules-nm-prison-ban-on-breast-feeding.html
Hope this is helpful.
Lissa
