I have worked with many surrogates, who at the intended parents request, pumped for a predetermined amount of time.
The families I’ve worked with have pumping written into their contract, I’ve seen time frames of providing milk for a few days, to two weeks or the first month, etc. One client pumped 6mo for her surrogate babe/family, and another few additional months to donate to a local mom & babe.
A few families have asked the surrogate if they were willing to nurse the first few feedings until the surrogates milk production increased to make pumping easier.
It is a wonderful gift (usually the pumping person is financially compensated for their time, not usually a free gift) when the surrogate and intended parents are both wanting & willing to provide human milk.
