I first heard about Lactnet back in the nineties when I was a La Leche Leader in South Jersey. The experienced coleaders in my area who were also IBCLCs frequently mentioned it. I eventually became an IBCLC but didn’t join Lactnet until I started my private practice seven years ago. Since I was no longer working in a hospital with coworkers, I needed somewhere to go for info and input and opinions. I’ve posted only once or twice since joining but I do received the daily emails. On most days I glance at the posts to see what’s being discussed. I like the professional and polite dialogue on Lactnet. When I’m researching a question for a client the archives are always there with info and direction. I’m also on FB which I like for quick answers to uncomplicated questions. My problem with FB is that I’m too tempted to stay there after I get my question answered.
I hope that Lactnet will continue to be with us. It’s a valuable resource for our profession.
