Hi Nikki,
You are very welcome. This is a very large topic to get your head around and I would not say that I am an expert at all of how different cultures understand and accommodate or not people who do not confirm to expectations of behaviour for their sex. However, I know enough to be confident that framing diverse global cultures with US derived understanding is unwise generally and particularly so for very unique culture-bound practices and beliefs. Perhaps living and working in the Asia Pacific (which btw includes quite a few countries that were never colonised, those colonised by a European country, those colonised by the US, and those colonised by other Asian countries) provides some advantages in that respect. The world is a complex place.
