Dear Lactnet Friends:

What a dreadful situation, Ilene. I hear how your whole family is at wit's
end.

This baby needs a thorough medical evaluation to determine the cause of the
pain. What you describe puts me in mind of the following case.

A pregnant woman had spells of pain that regularly sent her to the ER.
These spells would last for hours. In between, she was fine. She was told
it was round ligament pain, and not listened to beyond that; it was
complicated by her being Black, a big reason to be ignored in the US
healthcare system.

Finally, an OB/GYN listened to her and discovered that she had an ovarian
torsion. Periodically, her ovary would get twisted, causing excruciating
pain. She had surgery and was cured.

Is there anything besides homeopathy that works? Wearing baby in a s2s
wrap, like those worn in NICU and sleeping upright? Is baby totally fine
during the day?
Is this distress related to something circadian or positional??

Please keep us posted.

warmly,

--
