I am working with a pregnant mother with Tourette's that plans to breast feed. She is unable to keep her arm from, as she describes, jolting outward and then swinging back towards her body full force. She has 3 dogs and has hit them all in the face, unwillingly of course, and is worried that she might do the same with her baby. She has considered using an arm restraint. We discussed using a laid back position so that gravity would hold her baby on her body incase she were to "let go" of the baby with that arm. Her medications have been approved for nursing by her pediatrician. Do any of you have experience with this or any good ideas?
It would be fabulous to offer her contact information for another mom that has dealt with this, if you know of one and could get that mom's permission!
