Hello Wise People!

Happy solstice to everyone who loves the sun.

I have a client who has recently been diagnosed with a rare autoimmune
disorder called mid-dermal elastolysis. Her baby is 4.5 months old.
Breastfeeding got off to a rough start and they had finally hit their
stride with easy, pleasurable breastfeeding when the mother was given this
diagnosis.

She has been advised to wean, as her specialist physician says that high
circulating prolactin makes symptoms and damage worse. My client has joined
an online community of people with this disease, and a number of
participants have shared that their symptoms were worse during
breastfeeding and better after weaning. My client isn't sure, though, that
this is representative.

Does anyone here have experience with this condition and breastfeeding?
After such a struggle to get to this easy place, my client is reluctant to
wean, but wants to do what is best for her health in the long run.

I appreciate any input you might have.

Thanks, Molly
