Posting here on behalf of a mom who suffered a spontaneous coronary artery
dissection (SCAD) 7 weeks postpartum and has been given conflicting advice
on whether continuing breastfeeding is compatible as she goes through
cardiac rehabilitation. From mom "In the survivors group many are talking
about breastfeeding correlation to SCAD, relating to how hormones of
lactation might play a role."

Also per a recent communication "I’m getting significant stinging/burning
almost always in the same spot (interior left breast/sternum) and
occasionally elsewhere. I started cardiac rehab and it sometimes hits while
I’m increasing intensity but it also happens at random times throughout the
day and night. I want to sift out what it could be breastfeeding wise
before I move on to other options. The cardiologist doesn’t not seem
worried and is aware."

I have referred her for a hands on appointment with a Lactation Consultant,
but wanted to mine the hive for any insight, relevant information/reliable
resources as this mom navigates breastfeeding during this challenging time.
She is VERY motivated to continue to breastfeed and wants to make sure she
has all the information she can before making any further decisions.

Many thanks!

Rachel.
