As an IBCLC, I have been teaching breastfeeding classes for over 30 years. I've changed the curriculum many times.
Who is your audience?
I have gone to a curriculum with less"facts" and content and more emphasis on feelings, anticipations and reservations.
Simple breast anatomy and care; how to do hand expression.
A good latch video followed by demo with doll and cloth breast.
Importance of seeking help early if problems seem insurmountable.
I always ask what is the one thing they absolutely need to have addressed for the class to be worthwhile for them.
A more instructive outline for them to take home for later reading.

I would like the groups opinion on the most effective content of prenatal breastfeeding classes. I remember reading something a few years ago that the traditional content of most classes was ineffective, and there were recommendations for some alternative content that was more effective, but I can't find the information anywhere. Thanks for your help.
