I have a mom (pwp) who has had nipple pain from the start of her now 10
week old baby. We have worked and worked on latch with only minor
improvements. Baby had a restriction - we do not have a local provider who
will do revisions so I got her connected to an occupational therapist
(2hours from here) who is trained in TOTs and oral assessment. She works
with a pediatric dentist who has put in a lot of training time to learn to
do laser revisions. In the meantime, nipple pain continued, baby had CST
and we started treating for vasospasm (avoiding cold, applying heat). Pain
continued and pediatrician diagnosed thrush-- did a 1 time 'painting' with
gentian violet-- which did very little. This was repeated and finally the
pediatrician ordered a course of infant diflucan (in addition to nystatin)
Mom has been very diligent with her diet and the rest of Pat Gima's
Treatment plan for yeast overgrowth. Baby had revision January 8 and mom
has done really well with doing aftercare & exercises but she continues to
have nipple and breast pain. I have had a few of these where it was not an
instant fix when revision/frenotomy was done but I guess I am looking for
reassurance that this may still take some time to before mom is having less
pain??
