breastfeeding in public wasn't ever illegal, however moms were being arrested for daring to bare a breast and feed a baby in public. Arrested for indecent exposure.  Of course all of us know it is not indecent exposure, it just baby wants to be fed, here and now.  I think part of the problem was that bottle feeding became so universal that everyone forgot some moms still breastfed in the 50s, 60s and so on.  Pat in SNJ
