Hi Lactnetters!
I have searched high and low for this answer but I cannot find anything
satisfactory. I'd appreciate any guidance or evidence or practice
guidelines.
We get a lot of questions about alcohol and nursing in one of my jobs doing
breastfeeding/nutrition chats.
I know all the rules of thumb and the guidelines, but I cannot find any
information on whether alcohol is metabolized out of pumped milk. I know
more recent sources don't recommend pumping and dumping but if a mom is
still under the influence and needs to pump to relieve engorgement, then
must she dump this milk or can it be fed to the baby after some
pre-determined time?
I really am stumped.
Thanks so much!
