Others have given useful feedback, but just zeroing in here: I modified a nursing bra with a hole and snaps to make a dual hands-free pumping bra, and there was plenty of room to put hands in and add massage/compression. Maybe she needs a different style of pumping bra to make things easier?
(Agree with checking suction/valves, and considering revisiting different flanges if it’s been a while. Also a titch of olive oil on the flange ‘corner’ can help a lot. And possibly trying a different rental-grade pump altogether; you never know. A little nipple stimulation before pumping can help some people also.)
