The specific probiotics that have been used to normalize the breast
microbiome are:
L. salivarius PS2 – as a preventive measure, 9 log10 cfu daily from 30
weeks of pregnancy until delivery
L. fermentum CECT5716 – as a preventive measure, 3 log10 cfu daily from
birth to 16 weeks postpartum
L.fermentum CECT5716 - as a first-line treatment of confirmed acute
mastitis, 9 log10 cfu daily for 21 days
L. salivarius CECT5713 – as a first-line treatment of confirmed acute
mastitis, 9 log10 cfu daily for 21 days
These are not what is found in a health food store as the specific strain
is the important part. In the US the L. fermentum CECT5716 product is
called Target b2 from Klaire Labs, in Spain it is Lactanza hereditum and in
Australia it is Qiara.
