I also practice in a small regional hospital. In order for me to see outpatients, there has to be an admitting PCP with privileges at our hospital to write the order. That can include mom's OB or primary care provider or baby's pediatrician/PCP. I feel terrible when I am called by someone who has found my name on a directory or has been referred by someone I have seen and I can't see them! Have had a couple moms change their pediatrician to someone with privileges! What I can do is try to find an LC that can help them. I also send them links of "general information" available on the internet r/t to their concerns.
