They can try the foley cup feeder, a friend of mine who is an LC at another hospital says she uses them often and easily  with newborns, and they cost about $4 US dollars. They can also try a medicine spoon, often free at area pharmacies here. My daughter, many years ago, was bottle refusing when I returned to work. I think she was about 4 mos old. Luckily I was only gone for few hours at a time, but my mother just sat her on her lap, and wrapping arms around her, fed her ebm with a sippy cup. 
Eventually, and with patience, she did take a bottle when needed, and bf for 5 or 6 yrs. I lost count.
