Panic attacks (or anxiety attacks and still undefined here) MAY be a symptom
of postpartum depression (PPD). They also may be a symptom of post-traumatic
stress disorder, another anxiety disorder, mixed disorders, etc. Bottom line
is: this goes beyond LC scope of practice. Refer to a mental health
specialist and do crisis management p.r.n., e.g. if client suicidal LC may
need to do more than suggest mom look up a therapist when she gets home.
Even if you have a background as a psychotherapist, if consulted as an LC,
I'd advise against "switching hats" other than for true crisis intervention.
