Dear Friends:
Karlyn Sturmer of Action for Corporate Accountability asked
me to post the following information to interested parties:
Action for Corporate Accountability, the U.S. branch of the
International Baby Food Action Network (IBFAN) has had to
close its doors for the next four to six months, due to
financial difficulties. Karlyn is currently working on
reconstituting IBFAN/USA, and will be contacting people
interested in seeing the WHO Code implimented and enforced
in the US. In the meantime, she will be conducting WHO
Code monitoring for the US herself. Send reports of
violations to:
IBFAN/USA
22 Old Green Road
Sandy Hook, CT 06482
(Please note that Karlyn is going to the Women's Conference
in Beijing, so she won't be available to respond to
requests for information for the next three weeks or so.)
This is sad news, but there is reason to hope that the
reconstituted IBFAN/USA will be able to carry on the great
work that Action was doing to get the US government to control
the marketing of breastmilk substitutes.
