I will try answering few questions that Debbie Tobin asked:
1) The nipple pain was occuring since around 1 month old, and that's when
his adenoids started becoming more enlarged. He was also diagnosed with
Laryngomalacia then. We even had a sleep study performed at 7 weeks old,
and he was diagnosed with central and obstructive sleep apnea.
2) There was no significant difference in breastfeeding comfort after TT
was released.
3) Tried assessing the suck, but baby refuses to suck on finger - chomps,
clamps and bites the finger instead, even when hungry.
4) ENT said adenoids aren't enlarged due to allergy or other environmental
factor.
5) I have re-checked the ENT's report and even called the office, It was
confirmed that enlarged adenoids cause the 80% airway obstruction, but in
my understanding it is mostly in the upper airway towards the nose, that's
why he breaths easier through the mouth. During the day, he does pause his
breathing for 4-6 seconds, and then figures out he needs to open his mouth
and takes a big breath. Those episodes are increasing in occurence for the
past 3 weeks and both pediatrician and ENT are aware
6) I have not yet been advised to seek CST consult, however, keeping this
idea as a possible solution

Kris, regarding your question about treatment, yes, he has been prescribed
nasal steroid (fluticasone) however, due to hyperactivity of the baby we
were unable to continue (the 2 days that the baby had steroids
administered, refused to sleep completely, and didn't eat either)

Currently I am pumping and feeding EBM in bottle, and past 48 hours my
nipples had a chance to partially heal and are not nearly as painful. I am
hoping that this solution is only temporary while we try to figure out how
to battle the main cause. I have wrote to Catherine Watson Genna hoping for
a skype consult as one Lactnet member suggested, and will try to seek help
from Jack Newman in San Diego if all else falls through. We are also having
a consult with other ENT this Friday to seek second opinion.
