I would recommend this mom take a multistrain probiotic for women containing Lactobacillus salivarius, and I would recommend she resume pumping a few ounces per side at about 4 hours after going to bed until the baby is about 6 months old and starts some solids. Assuming she has NOT had any more mastitis at that point, she could gradually decrease the number of ounces pumped in the middle of the night to zero, and see if she tolerates that when her baby starts to need a bit less during the day.
