If non-prescribers such as pharmacists, nurses, friends, strangers, clerks, grandfathers and grandmothers, brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers, uncles and aunts, internet sites, Facebook friends, etc., can recommend OTCs, certainly knowledgeable Lactation Consultants can "recommend" OTCs. OTCs are not "prescribed" by anyone, unless one has prescription privileges to do so and wants to write a prescription for an OTC. In the vast majority of cases, OTCs are merely recommended.
