There are numerous tools to assess in the hospital. BAS, BREAST, BSEFS/BSEFS-SF, IBFAT, LATCH, MBA, MBFES, Shrago, Via Christi to name a few.
1.Management of Acute Malnutrition in Infants (MAMI) Project 2009. Chapter 7 reviews a number of tools (14) and lists articles associated with the tools.
2.Evaluating the association of two breastfeeding assessment tools with breastfeeding problems and breastfeeding satisfaction (LATCH & IBFAT, Schlomer & Kemmerer & Twiss, JHL 99,15(1) 35-39
3.Validity and Reliability of the Infant Breastfeeding Assessment Tool, the Mother Baby Assessment Tool and the LATCH Scoring System , Altuntas, et al. Breastfeeding Medicine 9(4) 191-195. 2014. This one basically says that IBFAT, MBA, & LATCH are reliable. Personally I like MBA by Chris Mulford best. Quick and easy. I've noticed that hospitals seem to like LATCH best.
Your hospital librarian should be able to help you with this. Pat in SNJ
