My hospital uses EPIC as well. We have worked pretty regularly with IT over the past 10+ years to make sure our flow sheets capture the info that we need, and it is always a work in progress. We built a lactation progress note that pulls information from both the mother and newborn charts and also uses smart text phrases specific to lactation education, feeding plans, pump acquisition, and follow-up.. It's one of the most comprehensive notes we have about the couplet and get's copied into both charts automatically so it's accessible to anyone taking care of the mother OR the baby.
Our IT department are wizards. :)
