Depends on what you are calling an SNS and what you're putting in it. A 5 ml syringe on a feeding tube is perfectly acceptable and works fine - IF - that's a big IF- the baby is trying to suck at all. I would say finger-feeding, spoon feeding, special needs feeder feeding and leave the bottle out entirely.

Subject: SNS in immediate post-partum period?!
I would like to hear from respected Lactneters regarding the following proposed protocol in our newborn nursery (in exactly in that order!):
"Alternative feeding methods:
- Supplemental Nutritional Sysytem
- cup feeding
- spoon feeding
- finger feeding
- bottle feeding"
Does it make ANY sense to use SNS as a first line alternative feeding method in the first 24-48 hours?
Thank you in advance.
Alla
