This is a brilliant article, The figure of 0.1% should now be quoted.  It simply shows how effective a competent, caring and humane lactation counsellor can be.  I think we need to forget some of the techniques of breastfeeding and worry a bit less about the psychology of mothers and what others are thinking and concentrate on our common humanity and kindness in trying to assist a mom who is trying to breastfeed.  We are uniquely poised to be able to do this.  In my reading of so many posts over the years, this comes through, most of us are not only competent but kind and generous people and Pam is a superb example of that.  
There is no way that any organisation can ever beat us if we remember that.
