"what is a neurobehavioral disorder?" asks one.

Well, they all probably begin with the differences in white matter development found in very young formula-fed babies, along with the other developmental differences that put not-breastfed babies on wrong growth trajectories of all kinds, and result in significant IQ losses.

In my opinion, it is only ignorance of the inevitable, unavoidable harms of substitutes for breastfeeding that allows anyone to suggest that never breastfeeding is safer than breastfeeding with some marijauna, or alcohol, or cigarette smoke or whatever you like to name, including exposure to viruses (especially given that women's milk is one of the few sources of anti-viral protection available to all infants.)

I hope IBLCE will soon make detailed knowledge of artificial feeding part of the LC exam, and Milk Matters: infant feeding and immune disorder, is a basic text for anyone who wants to learn. (Apologies for 'advertising' but the book is currently the only easily accessible source of some of the needed information. And once it has recouped its costs, it will be available free or very low cost. Moderators can cut this last para if it breaches current Lactnet guidelines.)
