Also, 8 days of age may be just a tad younger than the more typical age
for long stretches between stooling in exclusively Bf babies, ...there would
not likely be this concern if the exact situation is the case at a few
weeks of age, baby may regularly go 4 or more days without stooling, if all
else is aok moms can be reassured that baby's digestive system is more mature
at that age and breastmilk is so easily and well digested and
bio-available/absorbed/utilized that there is very little waste so it can take a few
days to see a BM.
Nevertheless, some moms and family members and peds get concerned and
sometimes the rectal stim to elicit a BM is solely for their benefit and ease
of mind, then hopefully they get comfortable with what can be the norm for
exclusively Bf babies.
