There's no research to indicate that lactating makes chemo less 
effective. The chemo can injure the healthy breast if mom maintains 
lactation, because the lactocytes are metabolically very active, so her 
milk production may be very low. Another issue is hormones, which 
receptor(s) are expressed in the tumor? Lactation suppresses estrogen 
and progesterone, and may slow the growth of an estrogen and/or 
progesterone positive tumor (and pregnancy will fuel growth in such a 
tumor).

Poor momma. The possibility of relactation/induced lactation may help 
her to feel some hope for the future.
