During the first 48 hours baby's can stool without recieving any breastmilk. It is frequently seen in the nicu with babys that are NPO, and even the first time breastfeeding mother who puts the baby to the breast and thinks the baby is nursing when in reality he is tongue suckling, or tge baby who spends his first12 to 24 hours vomiting up amniotic fluid who has no suck desire.
