Laura mentioned this article on the Psychology Today Bog, "Moral Landscapes," by Darcia Narvaez.

Darcia Narvaez is also author of an interesting article in Clinical Lactation, which is open access on line.
Navaez, Darcia. “The Ethics of Early Life Care: The Harms of Sleep Training,” Clinical Lactation. Vol 4, no 2: 66-70. http://www.clinicallactation.org/sites/default/files/issues/CL4-2.pdf
(Talks about why babies need contact with parents at night. She also talks about our evolved biological developmental niche and the ethical responsibilities of health care providers to be knowledgeable and responsive to it.

She is tentatively scheduled to be a speaker at a Safe Sleep Conference in Pasadena, CA next spring, March 5 - 6, 2015 along with speakers James McKenna, Kathleen Kendall-Tackett, Wendy Middlemiss, Diane Wiessinger, and Tracy Cassels. I would love to go to this.

"Safe and Sound: New Directions in Promoting Safe Infant Sleep" See information at http://www.SafeSleep2015.com/uploads/3/4/0/9/3409513/sis_brochure_041414.pdf
