In this age of litigation, I would not do weight checks without a path for follow-up. What if baby had lost more than 10% birthweight? -- is the hospital insuring that something be done, ie lactation help or other professional follow up? Or if staff notice baby significantly jaundiced while weighing -- who's ensuring that bili levels are checked?

There has been concern over the legality of weight checks with no ability to immediately offer breastfeeding assistance if needed. Also, concerns over not having the information in "medical record" just kept in a log. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
