We use it in GE Centricity and I think it gives a good representation of the feeding, however I don’t agree points should be taken off if the breast is filling? Why ? I think that is a good thing! I think for ibclc’s we don’t really need it, but for others evaluation a feed, it helps them to see what makes a good feeding or not, and what sort of things we are looking for.
I had my own little scoring system in columns, which I noted at each encounter, and understood it perfectly:
Breasts / nipples / milk production / position-latch / suck: swallow
e.g. large, pendulous / everts after RPS ++ transitional / CrCr – excellent / +++
