We just have the family members bare their chests and cover with blanket…..although we have at times utilized the “tube tops” that we use in L&D to hold the monitoring devices in place. These work well if we use the XL or queen size. Of course, we advise no walking around while baby is in KC for obvious safety reasons.
In the documentary, “Motherland” filmed at largest maternity hospital( its in Manila), they do not have a NICU so moms with preemies are issued a “tube” , essentially an elastic tube top(remember the 60’s?!!!!) and both moms and dads use this to hold their preemies…..a fascinating movie if you get a chance to view it.
years ago , we re-purposed our scultetus binders( now, I am showing my age !!!!) and these were very useful for maintaining skin to skin….always for safety in mind. I know we no longer have those binders…. But they worked just fine…..

Subject: Baby wrap in the hospital
Hi everyone, We're thinking about beginning to purchase baby wraps for kangaroo care in her special care and nursery. I'm having trouble finding products online. I'm wondering if there is anyone who uses similar products for their preterm or term infants. Does anyone have a recommendation? Do you provide them to the parents, sell them to the parents, or do you send them to the laundry and reuse them? Thanks for your help.
