Pat,
 
I worked with a mom who had acquired MRSA in the hospital and her baby had  
mastitis which cultured MRSA, both treated.  The infectious disease doc  
offered the explanation that baby's nipple pores were likely more open and the 
 bacteria ascended into the child's breasts causing mastitis.  This was 
some  years ago but what I remember.
