RE: Subject: evidence for delaying infant bath or thermoregulation
I am currently enjoying the iLactation conference. Just viewed Kathy
Abbott's Talk about bacteria. There is some evidence out there to support
delay of bath due to development of the infant's gut biome in the
development of his immune system. Even the vernix is purposely sticky to
attract the right bacteria. Baby's place is STS with mom or interacting with
his immediate family and collecting all the good germs. Even from his
siblings.
All that said- I wish I could get my hospital to delay bath as well.
