YES. I had a mom in my practice with lactation failure, and her
prolactin was 35 at 2 or 3 weeks, lab and doc reported it as normal!
It's very very important to ask the number. It should be in the 100's in
the first few weeks, and at least 50 until weaning. There's a chart in
Hale-Hartmann Textbook of Human Lactation with numbers that Tom thinks
are ballpark, though there's been little research. Tom Hale's best guess
is good enough for me until we have more info.
