I am an IBCLC and I have a 1 month old grandson. He regained birth weight by 2 weeks of age but hasn't gained since. He nurses 12-14x daily, on demand, round the clock. He is a good nurser, has a 1:1 suck/swallow ratio. I don't understand why he's not gaining. He is still jaundiced so I was wondering if the jaundice could be burning all his calories. She was eating lactation cookies the first weeks but he was fussy so I had her cut out the cookies (she's back up to 3-4 a day) and block nursing to see if he had a lactose issue. He vd's/stools are more than adequate. I've suggested mother's milk tea, breast massage while nursing, pumping 5-6x a day, and supplementing any pumped milk. Anyone have any other thoughts or suggestions? Carol
