Dear Chayn,
In the Breastfeeding Medicine Protocol #3
http://www.bfmed.org/Resources/Protocols.aspx, scroll down to #3, they
say a healthy, term newborn can go for 48 hours without food. I
personally, if a baby is not feeding will in those first two days, will
encourage the mother to hand express and spoon feed this to the baby
every 2-3 hours. Not necessarily for the baby, but to help the mother's
milk supply work on coming in. Lots of skin to skin as well.
I hope this protocol helps.
Sincerely,
--
