Hi Ruth,
I am new to the listerv and have not posted before but your discussion prompted me to respond. It brings back memories of my own son being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes around 12 months of age. He had similar symptoms and was very irritable and weight gained had slowed. However, his blood sugar was high, 531 mg/dl, when I took him to see Peds. Other blood work did show acidosis and he had large amount of ketones. I would think following close with Peds would be good and possibly endocrinologist. Diabetes Insipidus has the symptoms of excessive thirst and urination but is due to other factors not related blood glucose levels. Seeing that this child has normal blood sugars maybe there are other factors. Hope all goes well. I remember being so nervous seeing those symptoms with my own boy.
