Karleen,
I'm always talking about protein sensitivities occurring in infants due to
mothers' leaky gut syndrome which involves poorly digested proteins and
other substances being able to pass through the inflamed intestinal wall that
has larger openings than it is supposed to have. The unbroken down
proteins pass into the bloodstream which of course then courses through the breast
where milk producing cells receive their nutrients. I'm no expert but see
so many babies with gassiness, frequent regurgitation, reflux, eczema who
vastly improve when mom removes offending proteins from her diet and treats
her damaged gut. I'm also fortunate enough to know a nutritionist to whom
I refer moms/babies who takes over with guidance and treatment.
All this being said, just doing a search on leaky gut led me to the
following site with a good explanation of how proteins enter the bloodstream,
http://scdlifestyle.com/2010/03/the-scd-diet-and-leaky-gut-syndrome/ I have no
investment nor specific experience with the site nor diet recommended.
Hope this helps your understanding and is related to your question.
