Ooops, a kind Lactnetter has just let me know that I made a very
silly error when computing the milk supplements needed by a FTT baby
at 4 months of age. I'm so sorry, I looked up the weight on the WHO
chart for 4 weeks, and should have looked at 4 months. So, looking
at the charts for boys 0-6 months (see the Child Growth Standards on
the WHO website at
http://www.who.int/childgrowth/standards/en/>http://www.who.int/childgrowth/standards/en/
a baby of 4 _months would weigh in at about 7 kg if he was following
the 50th percentile curve, and if he had been receiving very
inadequate intake, you'd probably compute that he would need 225ml x
7 divided by 8 or about 200ml every 3 hours.
As it happens, thankfully Laura's low-gain baby seems to be doing
well on what he's receiving.
But my apologies to all for making this quick-and-easy mistake in the
numbers :-(
