Dear Lactnet Friends:
Wendy Jordan asks for ideas about a baby who is fighting the breast.
While CST is fabulous for any baby, I wonder if this baby has ever found
the breast himself without "guidance" about positioning, maternal hand
placement and latch technique? What happened when baby was put s2s in a
laid-back position and permitted to do what he wanted? This may mean
coaxing a mother to help him do what he wants to do.
Many babies get pissed off at being guided or controlled by mamma; they
want to do it themselves.
Suzanne Colson recommends putting babies in laid-back postures in drowsy
and light sleep states to weaken reflex behavior for those babies that go
from 0 to 60 in two seconds.
Any other ideas?
warmly,
--
